MARSHALS PLAN PERMANENT SECURITY WALL IN ALEXANDRIA
Full Description:
The U.S. Marshals Service says it plans to replace the temporary barricades around the federal courthouse in Alexandria with a permanent security wall.
Officials believe the wall will be more attractive than the faded concrete barricades and will fit with the neighborhood's architecture.
Some people who live in the area, including Jim Savage, have been trying to get the barriers removed.
Savage says they were supposed to come down after the trial of Sept. 11, 2001 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui, but seven months afterward, they are still there.
Savage calls the security measures an eyesore and has retrieved a judge's order saying the additional security was supposed to be temporary.
John Hackman, the acting U.S. marshal for Alexandria, says he understands the residents' concerns, but the Alexandria court has high-profile cases.
